Day 1 North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa, 5-7 September 2023 Programme: AIS 2023ģr d IFLA IT Section Artificial Intelligence Symposium (AIS) 2023 The purpose of the workshop is to showcase the adoption of cloud computing technology for the management of library services in the 5IR. It gives users access to storage, files, software, and servers through their internet-connected devices: computers, smartphones, tablets, and wearables. Users can access these services available on the “internet cloud” without having any previous know- how on managing the resources involved. Cloud computing technology is a data storage technology model for information technology services which many organizations and individuals are adopting in the fifth industrial revolution, this also include the library and information sector. The workshop shall introduce participants on cloud computing. Workshop 2: 5IR technologies in libraries: the use of internet of things and cloud computing technology to provide library and information services in the industry 5.0 - Dr. In addition, a physical tour of the Makerspace will be conducted. This workshop shall introduce participants to the develop of the NWU LIS robots. The workshop shall be presented by the NWU School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering. Workshop 1: Developing robotics for the LIS environment - Prof Pieter van Vuuren Workshops - Monday 4 and Wednesday 6 September New methods and techniques will be explored for future research avenues in various fields of Artificial Intelligence, Infrastructure and Computation, and Machine Learning. This implies innovative changes and adaptability in human skills and creative imagination to establish, develop, and maintain an enabling Teaching and Learning environment aligned with digital tools. ![]() The objective is to promote partnerships, networking, and collaborations within different organisations in developing e-services supporting teaching, learning, and research. The symposium aims to bring together industry leaders to discuss digital transformation strategies institutions can apply to enable agile, collaborative, and integrated service operations. The North-West University Library and Information Service, Information Technology and the Faculty of Engineering: School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, in collaboration with the IFLA IT Section, are pleased to host this Artificial Intelligence Symposium.
